WOW! TEDx in UI?

I realised that there are talk events and there are talk events. And when you speak about a talk conference without putting TED Talks in the first three, then you are definitely off point. TED meaning technology, entertainment and design started in the year 1984 as a platform for the spread of innovative ideas. today the categories of the talk has expanded and now covers all facets of life ranging from arts to law to sport; from medicine to politics; the list is ending. So what happens at a TED talk event? Well, various people in society are invited to speak about the creative thought and idea. it could be an idea already being implemented or it could just be some serious musing of the head that is yet to come into materialization. The beautiful thing about TED is the employment of technology especially in releasing these ideas to the World. The video of each speaker’s talk is recorded and then uploaded on the TED website and off course on the popular video sharing site Youtube. What about TEDx? what does it mean? TED comglomerate owned by Chris Anderson’s Sampling Foundation grants license to independent groups to put together a similar event in their jurisdiction. with some dos and donts from TED, the independent group can organize a TEDx talk in their locality. The x means independently organized Ted event. It is therefore heart warming to know that a TEDx event (TEDxUniversityofibadan)will be happening on my campus in some few days; 20th April is the precise date and the venue for the talk is Mainstreet Bank Building at the Faculty of the Social Sciences.
